Reply: Bernie, you did not leave a contact address so hope you come back to look at this. The Bainbridges (I assume Margaret Agnes was your Grandmother), married into the Steel line . Your GGG Grandfather was John Steel, he was my GG Grandfather. |

Dear John, I have found a will dated March 1689 for Thomas (C)ockbaine of Dodorck, Threlkeld, Cumbria. (Your site won't allow the 'C' word. His wife is Margaret and three children, Margaret, Jane, John. I do not know how the will was in the posession of my mother-in-Law Phylis Townson. Is a copy of any interest to you. dear john stumbled across your "steel family tree" today and was horrifed to learn that i am married to my mother!!!.(there are laws against that sort of thing aren't there). thought you might like some info to update it. eric john proctor dob 11/12/1947.mother eva proctor(nee steel) dob 1/9/1924.father edwin proctor dob 21/12/19 died 14/2/2000. married at lowther 14/12/1943. edwin's father henry proctor dob 25/9/1883. mother jane ann proctor (nee greener) dob 1/8/1882. |

Hello John, I am researching my family tree. My Great Grandmother was Jane Sisson who was born in Redmaine in Cumberland C1879. Her father was William who was born in Deanscale, Cumberland C1854. I decided that before I travelled to Cumbria to discover further family members I would look at the Censuses to discover the most likely family members. In the 1861 Census, the most likely match was William Sisson born in 1854 in Shelton, Cumberland. His parents were Joseph and Elizabeth Sisson. Joseph was born C1831 in Temple Sowerby in Westmorland. This appears to be the same Joseph Sisson who appeared in the 1841 Census as being born C1830 in Westmorland. In the 1841 Census Joseph’s parents were William and Hannah both born C1801. Joseph’s siblings were John born C1826, Maryann born C1826, Sarah born C1828, William born C1832, and Thomas born C1839. When I found your web site, although my relative Joseph does not appear, I noticed that the rest of the family is very similar. I was wondering where you got your information so that I could look to see if Joseph also appears. |
